PONG
3 matching pieces, of any suit, wind, or dragon
KONG
4 matching pieces, of any suit, wind, or dragon
CHEE
3 pieces in a sequence, of any suit
CALLING HAND
A hand that only needs one piece to win
MAH-JONG
going out, winning
CLEAR HAND
The whole hand is of one suit
PIECES
sometimes called tiles
PREVAILING WIND
The wind as displayed on the indicator. The prevailing wind only changes when the indicator gets back to the Starting Dealer
STARTING DEALER
The very first dealer of the game
SEAT WIND
The wind of the player's seat, which is always determined in relation to the dealer, who is East
DISCARD
The latest piece thrown out. All other discarded pieces are 'dead' and cannot be used
WALL
The stack of unused pieces. Pieces are taken from the wall in a clockwise fashion, except for the extra piece drawn after a Kong, which is taken from the opposite end
ROUND OF PLAY
When all players have been the dealer at least once. At least 4 hands
